Semliki National Park



Situated within the remote Semliki Valley,site of the Sempaya Hot Springs andnamed for the river which forms theCongolese border, Semliki National Parkprotects an extension of the Congo's vastIturi Rainforest, and is of particular interestto birders with 40 essentially Congolesespecies found nowhere else in Uganda.The forest harbours many mammals,ranging from widespread forest dwellerssuch as elephant and chimp, to the rathermore localised De Brazza's monkey andpygmy antelope.

From Fort Portal, along aspectacular dirt road hugging the northern tip of the Rwenzoris. Public transportfrom Fort Portal toBundibugyo passes the parkheadquarters
