Kenya
has over 1090 species known species of bird and more are still being discovered
thus is undoubtedly one of the richest avian diversity in the world. Our
avian life range from the largest being the Ostrich and small being the
tiny sunbird Others include; guinea fowl, francolins, hornbills, weaver
birds, hoopoes, starlings, vultures, Marabou stork, harriers, goshawks,
sparrow hawks, buzzards, kites, falcons, kestrels, eagles, herons, cranes,
cormorants, daters, kingfishers, pelican and flamingos to mention a few.
While
in Nairobi, one may take a full a day bird watching birding excursion
at the Nairobi National Park, Olorgesaille, Lake Naivasha, and Gatamaiyu
