- Day
1 Mount Kenya
- Drive
northwards through the farmlands of the Kikuyu people to reach
Mt. Kenya and the small town of Nyeri in time for lunch. In
the early afternoon, drive through the forest to your Tree Hotel
where the night is spent high above the floodlit water hole
and salt lick. Frequent visitors are elephant, rhino, buffalo
and giant forest hog. Overnight at your Tree Hotel.
Day
2 Mount Kenya / Samburu
- After
breakfast, flank Mt. Kenya and descend into the dry and rugged
semi-desert where Samburu National Reserve situated. Harsh but
beautiful this reserve harbours many species of animals not
found in the more lush parts to the south. Afternoon game drive
with dinner and overnight lodge or camp in the reserve.
Day
3 Samburu
- The
day is spent exploring this reserve. You will most certainly
see the great reticulated Giraffe, Grevy Zebra, elephant and
Oryx - perhaps the origin of the legend of the unicorn. Overnight
at your lodge or camp.
- Day
4 Lake Nakuru
- After
breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru stopping en route for a brief look
at the magnificent Thompson falls where the water of Ghale Naro
cascade in a sheer drop of 73 metres. Lunch at Nakuru before visiting
the world famous bird sanctuary and national park where the sight
of a million or more flamingos has been described by Sir Peter
Scott as "The world's greatest bird spectacle". There
is also much game to be seen before spending the night at a lodge
or camp in the park or before driving on, to spend the night at
hotel at lake Naivasha.
- Day
5 Maasai Mara
- Depart
for Maasai Mara game reserve after an early breakfast. Lunch
at the lodge and an afternoon game viewing in the reserve. Dinner
and overnight at the Reserve.
Day
6 Maasai Mara
- Morning
and afternoon game viewing in the reserve, noted for its black
maned lion and leopard. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or tented
camp.
Day
7 Nairobi
- Return
to Nairobi after breakfast.
